What is a pontoon ramp or gangway?
A pontoon ramp, also known as a gangway or walkway, provides safe access between the shoreline and a floating pontoon, jetty or marina. The ramp allows the pontoon to rise and fall with the tide while maintaining pedestrian access.
What materials are used to manufacture your ramps?
Our ramps are manufactured using combinations of F27 hardwood timber, marine grade aluminium and 304 stainless steel hardware for maximum strength and corrosion resistance.
What timber do you use in your timber ramps?
Our standard timber ramps are constructed from kiln dried F27 Queensland Blackbutt hardwood with pencilled edges for durability and long service life in marine environments.
Can I purchase a ramp as a DIY kit?
Yes. Marine Dock Systems can supply hinge and hardware kits, partially completed kits or fully assembled ramps ready for installation.
Do your ramps include hinges?
Yes. Our ramps utilise heavy duty aluminium hinge systems designed to connect the ramp to the pontoon and shore structure while allowing tidal movement.
Can ramps be attached to seawalls?
Yes. Ramps can be attached to seawalls, retaining walls, jetties, marinas and other suitable shore structures using the appropriate hinge assemblies.
Do you manufacture aluminium gangways?
Yes. Marine Dock Systems manufactures aluminium gangways and walkways for residential, commercial and industrial marine applications.
Can handrails be fitted to ramps?
Yes. Aluminium handrails can be incorporated into the ramp design to improve safety and accessibility.
Are custom ramp sizes available?
Yes. We manufacture custom ramps and gangways to suit site specific requirements including length, width, load capacity and tidal conditions.
What hardware is supplied with the ramp?
Our ramps use marine grade stainless steel bolts, nuts, washers, screws and aluminium brackets to provide excellent corrosion resistance and durability.
Can these ramps be used for commercial marinas?
Yes. Our gangways and ramps are suitable for residential pontoons, commercial marinas, yacht clubs, public access facilities and industrial waterfront projects.
How much maintenance does a timber ramp require?
Timber ramps should be periodically inspected and maintained. Decking can be treated with decking oil to maximise appearance and service life.
Do you supply ramps Australia wide?
Yes. Marine Dock Systems supplies pontoon ramps, gangways and walkways throughout Australia from our New South Wales and Queensland facilities.
Can ramps be designed for wheelchair access?
Yes. Custom ramps can be designed with suitable widths, gradients and handrails to assist with accessibility requirements where site conditions permit.
What applications are your gangways suitable for?
Our gangways are used for residential pontoons, floating docks, marinas, jetties, houseboats, work platforms, industrial pontoons and public waterfront access systems.
