What is a residential pontoon?
A residential pontoon is a floating dock system designed to provide safe access to boats, personal watercraft and waterfront properties. Residential pontoons can be custom built to suit private homes, canals, rivers, lakes and sheltered marine environments.
What materials are used in Marine Dock Systems residential pontoons?
Marine Dock Systems residential pontoons are manufactured using fully welded aluminium frames, F27 hardwood timber framing, polyethylene flotation modules, stainless steel hardware and a variety of decking options.
Are your pontoons Australian made?
Yes. Marine Dock Systems has been manufacturing Australian made pontoons, docks, marinas and floating structures since 1981.
What flotation modules do you use?
Our residential pontoons utilise durable rotationally moulded polyethylene flotation modules ranging from 550 litre, 650 litre and 1200 litre capacities depending on the pontoon size and application.
Can I customise the size of my pontoon?
Yes. We manufacture standard residential pontoons as well as custom designed pontoons to suit individual waterfront requirements, vessel sizes and site conditions.
Do you offer aluminium framed pontoons?
Yes. We manufacture fully welded marine grade aluminium framed pontoons designed for strength, durability and low maintenance in marine environments.
Do you offer timber framed pontoons?
Yes. Timber framed pontoons are available using F27 kiln dried hardwood framing and decking for a traditional appearance and excellent durability.
What decking options are available?
Decking options include hardwood timber decking, marine carpet over aluminium plate decking, fibreglass reinforced mini mesh decking and seagrass friendly mesh decking systems.
Can a pontoon include a swim ladder?
Yes. Swim ladders, grab rails, cleats, fishing rod holders, buffers and other accessories can be fitted to most pontoon designs.
What is a seagrass pontoon?
A seagrass pontoon incorporates mesh decking that allows sunlight penetration through the deck, helping protect and maintain seagrass growth beneath the structure.
Can pontoons be installed on rivers and canals?
Yes. Residential pontoons are commonly installed on rivers, canals, lakes, estuaries and sheltered coastal waterfront properties throughout Australia.
What is the advantage of polyethylene floats?
Polyethylene flotation modules are UV resistant, corrosion resistant, impact resistant and require very little maintenance compared with many alternative flotation systems.
Can I moor my boat alongside a residential pontoon?
Yes. Residential pontoons are designed to provide convenient and secure mooring for fishing boats, runabouts, ski boats, pontoon boats and other recreational vessels.
Do your pontoons include mooring cleats?
Yes. Most residential pontoons are supplied with aluminium mooring cleats and protective buffer systems to help protect both the pontoon and vessel.
Can Marine Dock Systems design a pontoon to suit my property?
Yes. We can design a custom pontoon layout to suit your waterfront, tidal conditions, vessel size, access requirements and local council regulations.
How long do residential pontoons last?
With quality materials, proper installation and routine maintenance, aluminium and polyethylene pontoon systems can provide decades of reliable service.
Do you supply ramps and gangways?
Yes. Marine Dock Systems manufactures aluminium and timber gangways, access ramps and walkways to connect residential pontoons to shore.
Can pontoons be supplied as kits?
Yes. Depending on the project, we can supply pontoon kits, flotation modules, frames, hardware and complete assembled systems.
Do you manufacture larger custom pontoons?
Yes. In addition to residential pontoons, we manufacture larger floating docks, commercial pontoons, marina systems, work platforms and specialised marine structures.
Why choose Marine Dock Systems residential pontoons?
Marine Dock Systems has over 40 years of experience manufacturing Australian made pontoons using proven flotation technology, quality materials and custom engineering solutions for waterfront properties throughout Australia.
